A helpless 20-day-old puppy was found abandoned on a mountainside near Chanis, Panama.
Weak and covered in sores, lice, fleas, and flies, she barely moved, struggling to breathe with her eyes shut tight. Her condition was critical.
Rescuers rushed her to Veterinary Paws & Footprints of Chains, where she was monitored every two hours. Weighing only 0.66 kg (1.45 lbs), she needed multiple injectable medications to stabilize her fragile body.

With her blood sugar dropping dangerously low, a blood transfusion became necessary. The painful procedure was heartbreaking, especially for such a tiny pup, her cries piercing the night.
Despite receiving proper nutrition, her anemia persisted, forcing repeated transfusions. The biggest concern was that her body wasn’t regenerating blood on its own. After another transfusion, her hemoglobin levels improved slightly, allowing her to be discharged.

Over the next few days, Baby Amor slowly gained strength. She stopped crying through the night and spent her mornings under medical supervision.
Afternoons were filled with love and attention from volunteers who played with her, helping her feel safe for the first time.

A week later, she started eating puppy food—small amounts at first, but her appetite was growing. Alongside meals, she received water and malt extract every two hours to boost her iron levels. Though still fragile, her resilience shone through.

Her wounds began healing, bringing an itchy discomfort beneath the bandages, but she didn’t let it stop her. Against all odds, she kept standing, fighting for the life she deserved.
Baby Amor’s journey was far from easy, but her unbreakable spirit proved that even the smallest fighters can win the biggest battles.
