The Man Who Saved the Cat from the Borewell

James was walking home from the market when he heard a faint, desperate meowing. He stopped and looked around, but there was no cat in sight. Then, he noticed a small borewell hole by the roadside, where water was gushing out with strong pressure. Peering inside, he saw a tiny cat trapped at the bottom, struggling to stay above the rising water.

His heart pounded. The cat was drowning, and there was no way it could climb out on its own. Thinking quickly, James grabbed a rope from his bag, but it was too thin for the cat to grip. He needed something softer.

Without hesitation, he took off his shirt and tied it securely to a wooden stick. Carefully, he lowered it into the borewell. “Come on, little one,” he coaxed gently.

The terrified cat tried to climb but kept slipping. James steadied his hands and waited patiently. Finally, the cat dug its claws into the fabric and held on tight. With one strong pull, James lifted it out just in time.

Soaking wet and shivering, the cat clung to his arm. James quickly wrapped it in his jacket, warming it up. After a few moments, the cat let out a soft purr, snuggling into his chest.

James smiled and carried the cat home. From that day on, the once-lost feline became his loyal companion, following him wherever he went. It was as if the cat knew—James had saved its life, and in return, it had found a forever friend.
