The Little Crow and His New Family

The Little Crow and His New Family

One morning, as Emily was watering her garden, she heard a faint, desperate sound coming from a nearby tree. It was a high-pitched cry, weak and helpless. Curious, she followed the sound and found a tiny baby crow, barely covered in feathers, sitting on the ground. He must have fallen from his nest.

The little crow cawed weakly, opening his tiny beak wide, begging for food. Emily’s heart melted.

“You’re all alone, aren’t you?” she whispered, carefully picking him up.

She brought him inside and placed him in a warm, soft basket. She gently fed him bits of soaked bread and fruit, watching as he eagerly pecked at the food.

Over the next few weeks, Emily cared for the crow, whom she named Shadow. She fed him daily, kept him warm, and taught him to flap his wings. Soon, Shadow grew bigger and stronger. His once-tiny wings spread wide, and his black feathers shone in the sunlight.

But the most surprising thing was how he befriended Emily’s dogs.

At first, her golden retriever, Max, and her playful husky, Luna, were curious about the little bird hopping around the house. But Shadow wasn’t afraid. He jumped onto Max’s back, tugged at Luna’s fluffy tail, and even played chase with them around the yard.

Emily laughed as she watched them. Shadow wasn’t just a crow anymore—he was family.

Even though he could fly now, he never left. He would soar through the sky during the day but always return to Emily’s shoulder, cawing happily, as if to say, “I’m home.”
