It was a chilly evening when Emma walked home from school, her backpack heavy with books. The sun was setting, casting an orange glow over the quiet street. As she turned a corner, something small caught her eye—a tiny bundle on the pavement, barely moving.
Curious and concerned, she stepped closer. Her heart clenched. Lying on the cold ground was a newborn puppy, its fur damp and matted. It was so small, its eyes not even open yet.
Emma gasped. “Oh no… who would leave you here?”
The puppy whimpered weakly, its tiny body shivering. Emma looked around, but there was no mother dog, no sign of anyone who might have left it there. Someone had abandoned it.
She couldn’t just leave it. Carefully, she removed her scarf and wrapped the little pup in its warmth. Holding it close, she felt its tiny heartbeat against her palm.
“I’ll take care of you,” she whispered.
Emma rushed home, cradling the puppy gently. She found a small box, lined it with a soft towel, and placed the pup inside. Then, she warmed some milk and fed it drop by drop from a tiny bottle.
The puppy suckled weakly at first, but soon, its movements became stronger. Emma smiled, relief washing over her.
Days turned into weeks, and under Emma’s care, the little pup—whom she named Lucky—grew stronger. His fur became fluffy, his tiny paws wobbled as he learned to walk, and soon, his eyes opened for the first time—gazing at Emma with pure trust.
Lucky was no longer abandoned. He had found his home, and Emma had found a best friend.
