In Khon Kaen Province, Thailand, a dog named Tan was a familiar sight around Ton Tan Market, often greeting visitors and hoping for a bite to eat.
Unfortunately, her story took a grim turn when she got entangled in a wire near a dormitory, leaving her unable to move freely.
A kind stranger managed to free her from the trash pile, but Tan’s trust was shaken. The wire had already cut deeply into her leg, causing an open wound that became infected and emitted a strong odor.
At the same time, Tan was carrying a litter of puppies, adding to the urgency of her situation.
Concerned locals, moved by Tan’s plight and worried about her ability to care for her unborn pups, reached out to The ARK Chiangmai, an animal rescue organization.
Responding quickly, the team tended to Tan’s injuries and assessed her health, especially mindful of her pregnant condition.
X-rays revealed that Tan was expecting eight puppies. Although her overall health was stable, the injury to her leg was severe, with infection affecting the bone and damaging tendons and nerves.
Veterinary staff hoped to avoid amputation, focusing on healing the wound and boosting Tan’s strength for the birth.
After receiving necessary treatment and care, Tan gave birth to seven vibrant, healthy puppies.
