At age two, Roland, formerly known as Shorty, found himself in the Montgomery County Animal Shelter in Conroe, Texas.
Despite his initial adoption promising a bright future, his life took a tragic turn. His adoptive family fell on hard times, leaving Roland neglected and malnourished.
They could no longer provide for him, faced with the agonizing choice of surrendering him or watching him waste away.
His condition was dire when Roland returned to the shelter in November 2020. Once a happy and chubby dog, he was now a mere shadow of his former self—skin and bones, unable to lift his head. It was evident that he needed urgent care and attention to survive.
Thankfully, Roland’s plight caught the attention of Jamie’s Animal Rescue, led by the compassionate Jamie C.
With years of experience rescuing distressed animals, Jamie immediately acted to save Roland.

Within days of receiving proper nourishment and love, he showed remarkable progress. Roland soon regained his strength from struggling to stand, enjoying playful activities like tug-of-war and leisurely walks with his foster family.
Now, Roland is a testament to resilience and the transformative power of love. Despite the darkness he endured, his gentle nature shines through, captivating all who meet him.
