Animals can be a lot smarter than people give them credit for. This angry dog blocked the ambulance path and refused to leave. The reason is shocking.
The ambulance and its paramedic team were on their way back to the hospital. The last patient they went to see didn’t need a ride to the hospital. They helped them out and made sure they were okay before letting them go.
Now they were done with their shift and they were tired. It was a busy day, but it wasn’t done yet. Jessica, the paramedic in the passenger seat, put her head back, starting to rest.
But suddenly, the ambulance braked hard. The driver apologized, but a dog had just run out on the road in front of them. They didn’t want to end their day by running over a pup.
But when they tried to drive past him, the dog ran to the next lane, blocking their path again. The dog refused to get out of their way. They tried to get past him a few times, but the dog would not budge.
He kept moving as they moved. Eventually, they switched the engine off and Jessica got out. She wanted to get back to the hospital and then home as soon as she could.
But she also wanted to make sure the dog wasn’t hurt. She was going to get the dog out of the way so they could go. She was a bit nervous because the dog seemed angry and he was quite big, but she loved animals.
As she got closer to the angry dog, it ran off to the side of the park. She figured her job was done and turned around to head back to the ambulance. But as soon as she did, the dog ran up to her again This time, he blocked Jess from getting in. But when Jess turned back, he ran off in the same direction. Jess followed him and as soon as she got to the corner, he ran ahead.
At last, Jess understood that the dog wanted her to follow him. But why? What was he trying to show her? Later, Jess would start to try and figure out where this dog had come from. Right now, she knew nothing of his past, but what she would find was going to break her heart.
This dog had been through more than any animal should have ever been through. It was incredible that he trusted people enough to get near them. With his microchip information, she would find all the homes he had before and figure out his story.
His name was Toby, and he first got to meet people when he was saved from the streets. Toby had been seen eating from the garbage and trying to hide in the bushes when it rained. The poor pup was thin and scared of everyone.
The local shelter was called, and they sent a team out right away. They were shocked when they saw him. Toby was just a puppy, and he was all alone.
No one had noticed any other dogs with him, and they’d been watching him for days. They would never be sure what happened to his mother, but the pup had barely survived up to that point. And if he was left on his own for much longer, he wouldn’t have survived at all.
He was weak and thin, and he was scared of all of them. Catching him would have been a lot harder if he’d been any stronger. But as it was, he couldn’t run far.
It was so weak he kept stumbling. He ran to the park where he’d been sleeping and tried to under some bushes. It was sad to see how scared he was.
But more than anything, they were determined to get him to safety and to get him help. They got closer and they picked him up. They had a net, but they felt safe enough to pick him up.
He was so small. Besides, they didn’t want to scare him even more. The dog was full of fleas, and he had a bunch of different worms.
He was severely malnourished and very sick. But now he was in a spot where he got food and medical care. Slowly, he started to trust the people who were taking care of him.
