Earlier this year in Dallas, Texas, a local resident noticed something unusual while walking near a muddy patch of land. Curled up tightly in the dirt was a large white dog. As the person stepped closer, they realized she was not alone.Snuggled close to her body were several tiny newborn puppies, barely strong enough to move.
The dog and her babies were shivering, soaked, and completely coated in mud. They looked exhausted and cold. It was clear they needed help fast if they were going to survive.

Thankfully, the passerby didn’t hesitate. They quickly reached out to animal rescuers, and Saving Hope Rescue responded. The team arrived shortly after and brought the mother dog and her litter to safety. They gave her a name, Evelyn, and found her a temporary foster home where she could rest.

No one could say how long Evelyn had been living outside, but her reaction said it all. As soon as she felt the warmth of her new surroundings, she seemed to know she was finally safe.
One volunteer shared that Evelyn was incredibly sweet and clearly thankful to be rescued.

With warm baths, food, and comfort, the little family began to recover. Evelyn’s muddy coat turned snowy white again, and her ears perked up.
A soft, relaxed smile appeared on her face. She looked like a brand-new dog.
