In the scenic town of Tahoe, a local ice cream shop had just introduced its new monthly flavor—honey. While customers were thrilled to try it, no one expected the shop’s biggest fan to be a 400-pound black bear.
On only the second day of serving the new flavor, employees unlocked the shop early in the morning and were met with a wild sight. The tubs of honey ice cream had been licked completely clean, and there, sprawled out on the floor like an overstuffed customer, was a massive black bear—fast asleep after his midnight feast.
Wildlife officials were quickly called in. With careful effort, they managed to rouse the groggy bear and guide him safely back into the wild before relocating him to a more suitable area away from town.
Researchers weren’t surprised by the bear’s sweet-tooth adventure. They explained that bears possess one of the strongest senses of smell in the animal kingdom—up to seven times stronger than a bloodhound’s. The honey ice cream had likely called to him from miles away.
As for the cost of the lost ice cream? The local wildlife center stepped in to cover the bill. But the shop’s owner wasn’t upset at all. When asked about the unusual break-in, he laughed and said, “As long as someone’s paying, I hope he comes back—that’s the fastest we’ve ever sold out!”
Sometimes, the best reviews don’t come from customers at all, but from nature itself.
