On May 31st, the desperate cries of a puppy pierced the air near Brest airport in Belarus. A group of bystanders, unable to ignore the sound, called emergency services.
Their instincts proved correct—what they discovered was heartbreaking. A small puppy had become trapped in a thick, sticky substance, unable to escape.

Firefighters and emergency rescuers arrived to find the pup ensnared in what appeared to be a tar-like resin. Likely linked to industrial or mining activities, the substance had hardened, turning the rescue into a race against time. Beneath the dog, a hole had formed in the material, threatening to engulf the animal entirely if it wasn’t freed soon.

The rescue was painstaking. It took an hour to pull the puppy free from the hardened tar. Weak and unable to move, the dog’s condition was critical.
But the ordeal didn’t end there—removing the resin from its fur and skin proved to be another monumental task. That’s when Kindness in Brest, a local volunteer group, stepped in to assist.

Volunteers worked tirelessly alongside the rescue team, using sunflower oil and water to loosen and wash away the sticky substance. Unfortunately, the damage had already been done.
The dog was dehydrated, suffering from toxic exposure, and had fractures in its paws and tail. Despite these challenges, the rescuers were determined to save the puppy.

By evening, the dog showed small signs of recovery, managing to eat and drink. However, its condition soon worsened. Burns from the tar caused immense pain, and the puppy’s attempts to lick its paws led to accidental ingestion of the harmful resin, resulting in vomiting and a loss of appetite.

The story took a brighter turn when a local resident, touched by the dog’s resilience, adopted the young pup. Now safe and loved, the dog is on its way to a full recovery, leaving behind the torment it endured.

Let this be a call to action to protect our environment and care for the animals that depend on it. Every small act of kindness has the power to transform lives—just as it did for this puppy, whose story reminds us of the incredible things we can achieve when we come together.
