Airports are increasingly adopting facial recognition systems to expedite the boarding process and enhance security measures. Instead of presenting your boarding pass multiple times, your face can serve as your ticket. While this might seem convenient, it raises questions about data privacy and the handling of biometric information.
Another significant change is the enhanced screening of electronic devices. Passengers are now required to remove any electronics larger than a cellphone from their bags, even in TSA PreCheck lines, for additional screening. This includes laptops, tablets, and sometimes even cameras. The aim is to get a clearer image of what each device contains, but it can add time to the security process, so it’s best to be prepared ahead of time.

While the infamous “3-1-1” rule (3.4 ounces, 1 quart-sized bag, 1 per passenger) is still in effect, some airports are testing new scanning technology that might eventually allow passengers to bring larger quantities of liquids through security.
