A few years back, some eagles showed up at a small-time farmer’s place and decided to stick around.
Over time, the eagles laid eggs, and that’s when the farmer got a wild idea.
He swapped out one of their eggs for a chicken egg, set up a camera, and started watching to see what the birds would do.
Eagles are known for being super devoted parents in the wild.
The female only lays a couple of eggs a year, so both mom and dad keep a close eye on their babies.
That’s how it went this time too.
The farmer only swapped one egg, giving the eagle egg to a hen to sit on. In return, the eagles got a plain old chicken egg.
Eventually, both eggs hatched. The camera caught the eagle’s reaction clear as day, and man, was he confused by whatever popped out of that egg in his nest.
The farmer didn’t let the experiment drag on too long, though—those eagles were way too stressed out. He quickly returned the eaglet to the nest, and the birds welcomed it back like nothing ever happened.
